Ho!Ho!Ho! Welcome to an over-stuffed and giant-sized festive edition of IMPOSTER SYNDROME. The days may be shorter but the same can’t be said of this final update for 2018!

Rejection Roundup

Let’s kick off with the rejection update.

As you may recall, I set myself the task of receiving 50 rejections in the last six months of 2018 and I’m happy to announce that I have hit the target! Yay me! October and November were bountiful months for rejections, allowing me to easily surpass my goal: including my first ever rejection for being too good?! Sometimes you just can win…

The goal for 2019 is 100 rejections and I intend to do a better job of tracking these so we can dissect them in more detail throughout the year. Learning from rejection is one of the most important things that help us grow as people and as creators, so understanding the shapes/forms/types of rejection is a crucial undertaking.

If you’d like to join me on the mission to achieve 100 rejections in 2019, let me know!

OFFBEATS

If you were one of the few people who picked up the preview of Lowlives #1 then you’re gonna be excited to hear that the entire miniseries will be available from your local comic book store in early 2019.

Renamed as OFFBEATS, the book has been picked up by Guardian Knight Studios and published through Antarctic Press with issue #1 available on February 27, 2019. Mark your calendars!

The book is co-created by me and Tom Sacchi, with amazing artwork from Giles Crawford, eye-popping colours from Dan Thompson and Lee Milewski, and fab lettering by the legendary Henry Barajas.

If you’re thinking about getting into comics, a one-pager is an excellent way to start. It teaches you how to concisely tell a story in just a few panels, and makes it affordable to collaborate with an artist.

I was inspired to make a one-pager comic by talented writer/creator Stephanie Cannon who has posted several of her own one-pagers online for free. Be sure to check those out.
